Privacy Policy — RealTime Tube
Last updated: July 5, 2026
The short version: RealTime Tube does not collect, store,
transmit, sell, or share any user data. It makes zero network requests of its own.
What we collect
Nothing. Specifically:
- No analytics, no tracking, no telemetry. The extension contains no analytics code and never contacts any server.
- No account, no sign-up, no email.
- No personal information, browsing history, or page content is read, stored, or transmitted.
What stays on your device
- Your settings (chosen pacing mode and display preferences) are saved locally with the browser's
chrome.storage.local API. They never leave your device.
- Latency measurements shown in the popup graph are computed locally from the YouTube player on the page you are watching and are kept only in memory for the current tab. They are never written to disk or sent anywhere.
Permissions we use
| Permission | Why it is needed |
storage | Save your settings (mode, display toggles) locally on your device |
Content script on youtube.com | Read the live stream's latency statistics from the player and adjust its playback rate — the extension's single purpose |
Scope
The extension runs only on https://www.youtube.com and only interacts with the
video player to adjust playback speed and display readouts. It does not modify any other part
of any website.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new
"Last updated" date. Since the extension collects nothing, changes are unlikely.
